Buckingham Columbus values community
involvement and encourages attorneys and staff to actively
participate in civic, charitable, business, religious, and social
organizations. As a member of the Greater Columbus Chamber of
Commerce, Rotary, and many other
professional and civic service organizations, the Columbus
office is helping to shape the direction and build the economy of
the city.
Buckingham Columbus has participated in the
Komen Race for the Cure for
several years. Motivated to participate by the loss of his sister
to breast cancer, Attorney
Brett
Miller has championed this cause, recruiting firm members to
participate and contribute. Those numbers have grown from a few
the first few years to over 75 participants in the 2004 race.
Buckingham Columbus has recently partnered with Highland
Elementary and the Ohio Reads
Program to participate in a reading and mentoring program with
this local school in the Hilltop Area. Buckingham Columbus
staff and attorneys tutor students and donate books and supplies.
In 2004, our employees volunteered to sponsor one family from
the school district and help provide items to make their holiday a
little brighter.
Buckingham Columbus has been an active partner with
Kids Voting. For
over two years, the office had donated space to this organization,
which teaches K - 12 students the principles of democracy and
encourages them to be more active in community and political
activities.
Buckingham Columbus has incorporated an area of our office
lobby to feature works from local artists on an ongoing
basis. Local artists have access to this area to meet with
interested collectors or to host a public show.
Press releases
are distributed to local media to promote each new artist in
residence. We are currently featuring the works of
Phillip Ghavengaard.
BUILDERS EXCHANGE OF CENTRAL OHIO
Buckingham Columbus is also very involved with the
Builders Exchange of Central Ohio
and its Foundation. We believe that the construction industry is
one of the most important forces for economic growth in central
Ohio, and that the Builders Exchange plays a vital role through a
range of valuable services, including workforce development
activities.
Over the years, Buckingham Columbus
attorneys have contributed to this effort by providing countless
hours of volunteering and teaching to BX members. Real estate and
construction law is an important practice area for our firm and we
place a high value on the relationships we have developed through
our membership in this fine organization, said Don Leach,
Managing Partner of Buckingham Columbus and the first practicing
attorney to be president of the Builders Exchange Board of
Directors. |
